Now that I have your attention, do you REALLY need protein powder?

No, but it has its benefits. Protein powder is great for people who are working out and trying to gain muscle and lose fat.

If you do not workout, you really don’t need it unless you just like it for the convenience for an easy on the go meal or the fact that the biOptimizer chocolate one tastes delicious!!!

A lot of people use it as a meal replacement. My first piece of advice if you want to lose weight is to EAT WHOLE FOODS! Focus on eating whole foods and get rid of the items that come in a package! If it comes in a package it’s processed. It can be scary and I know a lot of people hate getting rid of uneaten items, BUT you’re doing this for you! My best advice, if possible, is grab a large trash bag and go through your cupboards and do a little Marie Kondo organization, get fit and healthy version. If you have kids, pick a section of the cabinet to have the kids snacks. That’s for kids only! Label it if you have to, to remind yourself!

I had taken a break from protein powders for a while and then my boyfriend introduced my to the company biOptimizers! This is how I incorporate this delicious smoothie into my day. I don’t really like to call it a meal replacement because I’m not replacing my meal. It is my meal.

In the morning, like so many of us, we are running out the door and we don’t really have time to cook a nice warm breakfast. So we need something quick and on the go!!! Smoothie is perfect for that!

How Much Protein Do I Need?

When I work with clients, I always like to take a look at their protein first. How much protein are they getting? Especially with my ladies!

I received my certification through NASM, so going by NASM these are the recommended protein needs by your activity level.

I usually say take your bodyweight and multiple it by 1.0 . For example, if you weigh 130lbs then aim to eat 130g of protein!

Grab a journal or use My Fitness Pal. If you are subscribed to my app you can track your protein on the app to get a good idea of where you are at! Having protein powder can help boost your protein intake!

My Smoothie:

1 cup water

1/3 cup coconut milk (I use realy coconut milk in a can) IF you use a nut milk from a container do 1 cup)

2 scoops of protein powder (1 works well too!)

1 scoop Organifi green juice to get some greens in!

Right now I am also actually adding liver as I am trying to really load my body with vitamins!

Optional add ons: Avocado (1/4-1/2), cinnamon, ice, fruit (Berries 1/4-1/2 cup), spinach (handful). I am also adding liver right now to it… I know i know… but believe it or not it masks the taste REALLY well!!!
