I should start off by sharing that “A healthy ELF” came from my initials being ELF ๐Ÿ™‚

Let’s see…I am a Special Education Teacher M.Ed who loves her job ๐Ÿ™‚ However, I have another love and that is fitness! During quarantine, I decided to make my love for fitness more than just a hobby and became a certified personal trainer through NASM. I also started my own weekly workouts through my app!

I was born in Oslo, Norway in 1988! ย My health journey started when we moved to the United States at the age of 10. My mom started working for a Chiropractor. Although I didn’t know it at the time, as I struggled guzzling down a mixture of garlic and onion “tea” (she had the nerve to call it tea) to treat my 102 fever, the health seed had been planted.

Life is a journey and things come and go. While my health has done a complete 180, I continue to grow and seek out knowledge anything health and fitness related! I love to experiment and try different things! I have done it all- ย I have tried the diets (SAD, keto, paleo, plant based, etc…) I’ve worked with a variety of professionals ย (main stream doctor, allergist, chiropractor, acupuncturist, functional medicine doctor, personal trainer, etc…)

I am not a creature of habit and therefore I am always trying something new. I struggled with candida and it still pops up when I tell myself “#balance” and indulge in too many sweets ๐Ÿ™‚ย  Most recently I worked with a functional medicine doctor and got a lot of blood word done, GI Mapp, DUTCH test and I learned that my blood work is showing up as hypothyroid.ย  I have the opposite of 80% of woman in that I have very low estrogen among ย a lot of other low hormones #workinprogress. However, these results helped me dive into my health even more and I have made and continue to make changes to try and better my health. Cutting down on cardio has been a huge factor! Focusing on strength training now!

If I’ve learned anything over the past couple years, it is that everyone is different and different things work for different people! Paleo works for some, while plant based works for others. Do what makes you feel good and what works for you! I believe we can also learn from each other and if not at the very least, share and listen to one another! This blog is my experience and journey in everything health and fitness related, in hopes that you might be able to take something away. My goal is to guide you, but it is your adventure!ย  To be completely honest, I just get really excited when I find something I love and can share it with others.

I love podcasts about health, but more specifically crime podcasts! I love to read a variety of books such as crime, thrillers, health related topics, self help, romance, and probably some other ones that I missed!

I have a younger brother ( 2 years apart), I love to travel and I LOVE SNOW!
